  1. I purchased from their website version 8. First I used dvd-decrypter. Then Opened and ran Instant DVD. Seemed to be working, but it kept locking up at a certain percentage, ie 37%, next time 40%, etc. Tried several times but it never seems to finish. I did not try to upgrade to 8.05. I am reading too many horror stories after upgrading.
    Second:
I uninstalled it and went to version 7. Never used this either. Version 7 does not even list my CD/DVD devices as the target drive. It does show all the CD/DVD drives in the left column of source drives. The hard drive is shown in the right column. Any suggestions?

  2. I owned this P.O.S. and had so many problems that when I did a clean WinXP reinstall, I just decided to skip putting this back on my machine. I could neither DO nor figure out what sub-menu to use to even GET to half the features mentioned on the box (I had the first edition of this program).

I DO have a DVD burner (external) but this program can't even see it. Like you, I can only output a shrunk DVD to the harddrive or, for some reason, to my CD-RW drive.. but that never works as it always wants to write GBs of info to it. Amazingly, this program was supposed to allow DVD-to-CD downconversions but I'd be shocked if many people got that to work.

Skp this crap and use any of the half-dozen free/shareware programs that do a more reliable job.

macko, I think that u may have another problem that makes it impossible for InstantCopy to finish the task. Try uninstall/reinstall and update (what do you have to loose?). I've been using InstantCopy7 and 8 since inception and never had a single issue with it. It produces superb quality material (best that I've seen so far). Your problems must be associated with your machine/software setup. As a first step try running it with all background applications closed (in Windows Ctrl+Alt+Del and close-end task on everything!!! but InstantCopy). This program is a real gem!

PS. I always output to HD first and burn it later, works great.
