  1. Hi there,

    My problem is...
I have just downloaded my first movie from Kazaa and copied it to cd, but my dvd player would not play it even though its been chipped. I tried my Playstation2 and it worked so i know the movie is on the disk.

I have been told that most dvd players will not play AVI files and that i must change it or download an MPEG version but the only MPEG/MPG that i can find on Kazza seems to be all porn.

How can i change AVI files to MPEG/MPG in the most simplest way as i am no computer wizkid ? and is there a difference between MPG and MPEG ?

If you can help me, a big sloppy kiss is on its way to you

A chipped DVD player? Oh my!
Anyhow, for standalone players, (where only a few support AVI/DivX playback) the AVI has to be reencoded to mpg (or mpeg - mpg is a leftover from crappy OS's that just support 8+3 file names). What kind of mpeg depends on what you want to do: You have 3 choices: VCD SVCD or DVD. Under Convert left are many guides for converting AVI to any of the mentioned formats.
And be careful about mentioning using KaZaA as your source for movies - Here, we only discuss conversion of material we own.
Adding injury to insult, KaZaA AVI's are among the worst kind of source material you're ever likely to deal with. 9 out of ten require severe clean up (see "bad frames") before they can be successfully encoded into something else. That they play fine on the computer/other AVI player doesn't say anything about the health of the AVI.

  3. ( i didn't forget the big sloppy kiss )

Thank you for the welcome and for the reminder not to mention various things. I agree with you about the quality of downloading from the net its just a shame it takes so long before the movie is available on dvd, thats the only reason i do it.

Anyway i think i will just have to be patient like the rest of the world,

    Thanks again
