tmpgenc/wmp9/powerdvd

hello,
hoping someone can help.
got an xvid/ac-3 avi movie,need to encode with tmpgenc,my problem is when itry to load it into tempgenc/wmp9 ,a message from xp comes up telling me there is an error and it needs to shut,can play it perfect in videolan,gspot/avicodec both say i have all the right codecs.
have done many films before but never had ac-3s,wondering whats going on

Have you got any ac3 codecs installed i.e.


that may be your problem
