    can u buy a converter.

    my laptop has an s-video out and i can't afford to buy an s-video vcr. what's the best way to do about recording from the tv out.

  3. There are s-video to analog cables (I own one). They cost about 10 USD and work well (at least mine does).
    Not that easy to find but some shops carry them.

  4. check out Tomi Engdahl's webpage. he's got some real good electronics stuff i've used on various projects before. this s-video -> composite adapter worked pretty well. (however, it's not good going the other way). but a PS/2 keyboard/mouse plug from radio shack, one capacitor, and an RCA plug, and you're pretty much ready to go. very simple soldering, only 4 pins. if you cut the strain relief off the radio shack plug cover, you can mount the RCA plug into it, and the whole thing is about 1.5" long and have a plug-in adapter. (note, you may have to pull pins out of the male PS/2 connector or cut the bottom away from the female plug, which is more useful)
