  1. I have nero 6.3.03 a sony530a and a nec2500. Burning DVD's is great no problem but when i burn a music cd my system hangs. It's as if nero 6.3 doesn't like making music cd's or making the music cd's on my two burners. any help is appreciated.

  2. If I am reading correctly, you have 2 disk devices in your PC. Make sure that the only disk that is in the PC is the one you are burning. Nero seems to like to have a fitwhen there is a disk in both trays

  3. Since when ?

I've got 3 in my machine, one of which stays in there pretty much full time as an alternative boot device...

Nero should not have problems with multiple drives, and certainly not discs in those drives. It would make it pretty difficult to do on the fly work otherwise.

Nice to know that you are having problems with Nero and two discs, because you shouldnt be....

Never EVER heard of a similar problem and as garryheather said, that would pretty much **** up on-the-fly work.

But to try and be helpful to the original poster.......

    The following may sound a little condescending (that is not the intention) but;

have you sucessfully burnt audio cd's before?
if not you need to check that all Nero's settings are correct (i am starting to dislike Nero!) and make sure that you have the correct sort of disc
also you shouldnt be having probs with your computer specs
but of all the Windows versions 2K is possibly the least liked by anyone i speak to and is possibly (i am guessing) the problem.

What may be more likely is that your drive simply may not like the media you have. Drives and media are not all created equal, and some drives do not like some media. (fact, pain in the arse but fact)

Try checking in the left hand coloumn under media and players to get others feedback on compatibility issues.

  5. It is strange, but it happens to me (I have emachines), happens to my boss (has a dell), and happens to a friend (has a Gateway). Only happens with Nero. Have no probs with Cakewalk at all. When get near the end of burns, freezes. No other disk in, no prob. All 3 of us have the burner as the slave.

That could well be the problem. I experienced difficulty's a couple of years back and when I reset the burner as a master all my errors did a disappearing act, so now I always set any burner as a master on the secondary IDE buss.

BTW zworg2 I run Win2K Pro and seldom have any problems.

Are you telling Nero the media you are trying to burn to is a CD? Can you write data to a CD but just not create a music CD?

There are tabs to set when going back and forth from CD to DVD. Make sure the proper one is selected.

  8. I was having the same problem. My computer would lock up when I tried to burn a CD but the DVD's were doing fine. My error message was "scsi command failed." I was looking through my device manager and found that all my drives were listed under scsi, however all but my SATA HD are on IDE chains. I have a NForce2 board. Well, I looked at the controller drivers, and sure enough, I had let Nvidia install its ide controller drivers. Once I uninstalled those and let windows reinstall its drivers, everything worked.

Moral of the story: make sure that your primary and secondary IDE controller drivers are the default windows ones. Otherwise, it might be creating a lot of problems with nero and your CD Burner.
