  1. I'm looking for a program that can tell what audio/video codecs are being used in a video, so if I need a certain codec I can just get it.. I was trying to play a .mpg movie in winamp 5 but it just froze, and it played fine in windows media player. Anyhow, if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it. Thanks

    your right

    maybe too big for notepad

i remember trying to find the codec for my AVI files ( 30 secs ) and i opened them with notepad and there was text like VIDSMJPG so that told me that the codec was MJPG

maybe wordpad would be better to use
