    Sasarchiver,

Though some people say otherwise, I've never had a problem with simply copying the '.dat' file to the hard drive and renaming to 'movie.mpg'.

Easily done this dozens of times with no ill effect either making another VCD out of it, or, using it and a number of others to add a bunch to a single DVD. With DVD, I sometimes use besweet for fun to convert the audio first or just let MF2 do the trick while authoring.
    Have a good one,

    neomaine

  5. You can also use lkvcdxrip and vcdxrip to do this as well. If you just copy
the dat and rename it under the windows os, win will add a RIFF header to
    it.

Also the copied dat/mpg will have vcd/svcd extentions. While this might be fine for normal playback and reburning to vcd/svcd you can run in to problems if your going to edit the movie.

Just depends on what you want, but most suggest you convert it back to true mpg.

  6. hey neomaine, didnt know that!!! so i just copy the .dat file to the HDD and rename the file as .mpg? lol cool....
To the other guy.....the reason i want to convert to mpg is to make a vcd/menu for the vcd i have....im not editing it at all, just through neros menu maker thing....

Thx everyone, uve been helpful. Gordon
