  1. okay, this is the story. I'm tryin to make a vcd with Nero, so I chose VCD NEW, than dragged and dropped my video files over to the other window on the left, so after i did that, I clicked on Write CD, than on Write. After that, another screen popped up and it says at the top "DONE"under that, "Compilation" than a white screen under that says ? 6:20:01pm encoder
    6:20:04pm c\program files\etc.....
than at the very bottom of the screen it asks me if i want to save it, print it or discard it. So I printed it, than nothing. It didn't do anything, so does anyone out there know what the hell went wrong, and what is that screen that pops up and why the hell it won't download. Please help me. I'm a beginner in all of this, so I don't know all the harsh computer talk. Also, the files that I wanted to burn were mpeg and avi which i hear is possible with Nero. I thank you all so much in advance if you can help me out.

The screen you ar looking at is the message log. If you try to save, it you will notice it has a default name of "log". The line items are merely what was going on during the burn process. Did it burn?

If it didn't burn the disc then the program may be on "IMAGE RECORDER". To check this and to change it, click on the recorder menu and select "Choose Recorder", if it is on Image Recorder, then that is the problem. Just select the CR-RW drive below it and it will also tell you what the drives specialties are also!

i had the same problem with nero after downloading the 5.5 upgrade.

there is an extra file you can download to resolve the problem.

    ftp://ftp5.nero.com/NeroVCD.zip

if the above link doesn't work the site address is:

    http://www.ahead.de/en/download.htm

  10. I think on Nero 5.5 you have to enable "test all speeds" or so, I'm not sure.
Instead try using Nero 5.0, I found it better.....
