Here's my problem... I have a machine that has win2000sp3 installed on it, I need to roll it back to sp2 for some software to run properly. The install was done with a win2000 disk that had sp3 rolled into it, so there are no un-install files. I've tried running the sp2 install file, but it will not allow the files to install since it is an older version. I've tried booting from a disk that has sp2 rolled into the install, then doing a repair, but that didn't do anything either. I really don't want to do a full install, since then I would need to install all the software again.
Could I copy the kernel.exe from the sp2 disk onto the drive, then reboot and run the sp2 install to change the other parts back to sp2? Or is there some other way to force the sp2 install?
