  1. OK here is a very long problem this may take a while to read

first off the first 6 DVD to DVD rs I did were perfect then the problems started

    1. I am using good media!! don't blame that!!!!
2 Yes My DVD Player reads + and -

OK as I said the first 6 DVDs worked perfect now the problems then started with this

I did the exact same thing with a Lord Of The Rings Copy and the thing at the start (Double Surround) came up it was screwed froze jumped yet the movie played perfect the funny thing is it works perfect when i do teh exact same dam thing on a DVDR/W!!!!!!

Yes I use teh automatic Compression yes I've even tryed compressing it too 3 gig

    now the problem you ask??

a Different thing happens each time and it seems like it's happening all the time now

I put the disk in (I am region 4) the disk will not load comes up with a bullshit error Disk Error Check Region

OK i have tryed just having region 4 ticked

I have tryed having the region free ticked

sometimes it will load and stuff up the menu (In other words the menu won't come up)

and yet sometimes it can do the most perfect Copy from time to time

but doing the exact same dam thing will work on DVDR/W!! and is guaranteed every time

I am sick and tired of wasting $4 per DVD-r (yes I live in Australia)

Please somebody enlighten me what the hell is going on!!

thanks if there is a genius behind this

It sounds like it could be a burn issue
perhaps you have changed a setting in Nero somewhere between your 6th good burn and now
you could as a trial download DVDDecrypter and use it's DVD burning engine - it's free and found in the tools page

  6. agree with above poster.
    -download and install dvddecrypter
-rip the files to hd using dvddecrypter. make sure when you rip the files dvddecrypter takes the region codes off the dvd.
    -import the files into dvdshrink.
    -compress, etc.
-burn files using either nero or create an iso file using imgtools and burn with dvddecrypter.

ps. you didn't mention what media you are using.

    Using TDK Media

the thing I don't get is why does it alwasy work on a DVDr/w?

  8. not all media is created equally.
dvd-rw's are made differently than dvd-r's.

Use DVDInfoPro or DVD Identifier to find out the media code of your tdk's.
see what they come up with.

I suspect media since your rw's are working but your -r's are not. You could try slowing down your burn speed to 1x or 2x and see if that helps with the -r's.

    or looking for

  13. it's on the last tab after you click on backup. there should be a pulldown menu where you can set the burn speed.

[edit]-if you don't see the pulldown menu, you may have to update your dvdshrink.

Everything points to a media problem. I would suggest buying few disks from diff. manuf. and testing them (you may have to waste a few bucks). Check Liteon users feedback with regard to media prefs. as well. If we assume that software is not messed up (possibility, reinstall...) and -R's are still an issue, have the drive replaced (you won't be the first one).
