  1. Can somebody tell me if there are settings in TMPGEnc that will allow me to have a letterbox picture? I can do it in DVDx? The reason I'm using TMPGEnc is that I'm getting errors in DVDx. Please let me know.

    I guess you have a DVD 16:9, then set source aspect ratio 16:9 (usually "full screen[keep aspect ratio]"). At the video tab set the output aspect ratio according to your TV (usually 4:3). TMPGEnc will resize and add the borders.

  3. Thanks, I'll try that. I eventually got it work, I had to swap the order of dimentions, it's opposite the DVDx settings. I set it at 240X352 and it is now in letterbox. I'll see how it looks.

    VCD resolution is 352x240. Maybe you can play that 240x352 XVCD, but it wont change the displayed aspect ratio.

  5. my advice is to leave the picture fullscreen and change the vertical size of the screen you're playing it on. that way you won't lose resolution, which is why we have anamorphic dvds.
