  1. hello.i'm trying to play a dvd i just rented on my dvd player on my pc in windows media player i also have divx player when i try to play it i get a message stating i need a decoder is there any other player that will play this movie (spy kids 3d) or any other way? all help is appreciated if any help im running windows xp..

  2. In order to play DVDs on your PC you need to have a MPEG2 codec installed. One workaround is the d/load the Power DVD demo, install it, then uninstall it. This will remove the player but leave teh codec behind.

    You can then use WMP or another freeware DVD player like Video Lan or Maxus(sp) to play your DVDs.

  3. Correct, just keep in mind that while all of the decoders out there can handle MPEG2 files, not all can handle CSS encrypted MPEG2 data like on a DVD. Make sure that it has this ability before paying for anything.
