  1. I have made some nice animated titles with Cool 3D, and was wondering if there is anyway to incorporate them into Pinnacle Studio 8 as transparent background titles?

Studio doesn't seem to like animated gif files. Is it possible to overlay two video files?

On a related note, if the answer is that it can't be done, what software could do this? I also have an old version of Ulead VideoStudio - can I import Cool 3D files into Videostudio?

    Thanks!

I haven't tried this with Studio 8, but I have used it a lot with VideoStudio 7.

In Cool 3D, save the animation as a series of TGA images with a transparent background (it helps to save these to a separate folder as there will be on file for each frame -- e.g., filename0001.tga, filename0002.tga, etc. -- so a 10 second animation at 29.97 frames/sec = 300 files). Note: depending the coplexity of the animation, duration, quality settings, and speed of your PC, it can take quite a while to save all the images.

In Video Studio, add the series of files to the overlay track with a duration of 1 frame set for each file (you can do this in one step in VS7 -- in timeline mode, select the overlay track and then click on the folder icon in the lower left hand corner -- using the file selector that comes up, select all the files in order, change the duration to 0 sec, 1 frame and click ok).

This may also work in Studio 8 using the title track as the overlay track, but like I said. I haven't tried it.

  3. Yes you can, I made a title with animated fire text. You will need HFX pro so you can use the chroma plugin. Create an AVI file with ulead cool 3D using a blue back ground, place on the time line and put your hfx transition down..

    Good Luck

Sample I did a while back

  4. Thanks for the encouraging words, at least I know it CAN be done.

I do have HFX Pro (version 4.6.1)test but don't know how to use the chroma plugin. I tried searching the forums, but couldn't find a guide on how to use this exactly.

When I open the HFX Editor, I don't see a chroma key option - and when I select plugins, I get a message saying there are no plugins available for the selected item.

    Any hints?

    Thanks,
    Icarus
