  1. I have a Canon A70 still camera that does take video clips. My problem is that I can download the clips to my computer but when I want to edit or convert them nothing recognizes them.

I have tried Premiere, Vegas, TMPG, Cleaner and they all say they cannot recognize the file format.

What am I missing? Could some please explain to me what I need to do to be able to edit and convert these files?

    Thanks

  2. I tried changing the file extension to .avi on one file, and it worked (in Windows Media Player....didn't try to edit it, though).

I use a Canon S400 and I have no problem opening the video files in Windows Movie Maker. I ran them through Virtualdub and converted the file from 15fps to 29.97fps. Seems to work OK. Quality sucks, but I didn't buy it for video.
