I have a 9600U. I seem to remember someone here mentioning that there's a way to do manual tracking on this VCR. I'm asking because the JVC appears to have tracking problems with this one tape while two other non-JVC VCRs don't have the same problem.
TIA

I have a 9500U, so I think it will work for yours as well. On the unit, press the + and - channel buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds. Then you can use the same buttons or the ones on your remote to adjust the tracking. I usually do the manual adjust for most tapes. The picture is usually OK, but the audio switches between "stereo" and "normal". Hope this helps.

Hold channel up/down at the same time on the unit. It disengages auto. Don't do it longer than pressing time plus an instant (not a full or even half second .. more like a quarter or eighth). Holding it makes it go on and off rapdily, not good for it.
This is needed once in a while.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
