Hi there,
I am using DVD Decrypter for ripping DVD-s, but why the ripping speed now is so slow (not more than 2x). I had NEC before (not burner) but it was ripping whit (8x or 10x usually). Now I have Sony U10A and it is working fine but ripping is very slowly. Is it my mistake, maybe something is not set correctly?
Thanks guys

probably hardware limitation,
Is there a secret 'turbo' mode like the Plextor to speed ripping up?-----------------------------------------------------
There is a reason why God gave us one mouth and two ears!!! -
you need a hacked firmware to rip faster...dvd-burner are limited at 2x or around it

Yep, it's locked. That's why I got the hacked firmware for my Pioneer DVR-105, and now, I can rip a whole DVD at around 11.5MB a sec! This was speeded up even faster since I OC'd my processor, adding another 350Mhz to the processing speed. Now, I can transcode a whole movie in less then 8min! Gotta love technology!

Maybe, maybe not. What most people do is get a sepearate unlocked DVD-ROM drive. Most popular choice seems to be the Lite-on 166s (I have one). Goes for about $30 online (www.newegg.com).
I can rip DVD5 discs at 8-15.5x, and DVD9 discs at 6-8x. Seems to rip DVDR discs at 4-8x thou (not really sure why). If you plan to backup a lot of discs getting an unlocked drive is the way to go.
