Is it possible to retain the AC3 5.1 digital sound when converting a XVID to DVD format?
Quicktime cannot read the ac3 audio. Both mplayer and VLC can so I can use the mplayer option to encode the ac3 to mpeg.

just keep the ac3 audio format, use virtualdubmod to demux the audio and use it as is.. most dvd players can recognize ac3.
