I am running a re-badged LiteOn 811s through my USB 2.0 connection. (Pacific Digital). P4 2.66 GHZ 512 RAM.
Been using Maxwell and Memorex 4x DVD-R. Using DVDShrink and Nero 5.5 (last version before 6)
Burning at 4x DVD-R, my discs are not playable on my standalone player (JVC - SX60B). 2x Burned Discs do work on my player though. (Well 1 Disc Did Work, but thats 1 out of about 10). 4x Burned Discs will play on Playstation 2 though.
Media burned at 2x works great however.
Last night I ran a simulation and it said that "Data transfer was too slow" to burn at 4x and switching 2x
What are my options?
1.) Upgrade to Nero 6?
2.) I don't think different brands of media will work.
Any tips would be appreciated.

your best option is too buy some quality media.
I had the same experience with you burning onto memorex disks. Only way I could get the disks to burn properly and play on my standalone was to burn at 1x or 2x. Whenever I burned at 4x, the movie would skip and become pixelated.
I switched to ritek disks and burn at 4x without any problems at all.
