i waz tryna use ABC roll but i can't seem to understand how to save it as an mpeg, or just a movie format

Adome Premiere's kind of the Gold standard, though MovieXone is free (i think it's aist.com, but do a search in google)

Editing MPEGs is at best a pain. I would really recommend editing the avi/source and then encoding to MPEG (either frameserve, save edited source, or encode in source [eg. Ulead]).
Sorry, I know that doesn't really answer the question
