  1. i am trying to burn a VCD disk using trial version of Nero. The .mpg video is only 14 minutes long, I am using Windows ME with 256 memory that is 67% free (according to resource meter). However I keep getting not enough memory message. Any ideas?

    Hello, I too get the not enough memory error even after I've restarted my computer and gone directly to NERO. I was, however; able to burn a music video to a disc as a VCD and it played on DVD player. I don't understand why it won't burn a part 1 of a .avi file. Is it because it's bigger than a music video? The part 1 movie doesn't exceed the 70 minute mark. Has anyone here found a solution? Signed, Extremely frustrated.

  5. I also ran into the same problem. Then I converted the
    avi to mpg format using TMPGenc and then was able to
    burn the VCD using Nero. I suspect that it is a disk space
    issue but don't know for sure. But you could use this workaround for now.

    This one has been driving me nutz for quite some time.
    I recently added two more 256Meg sticks to max out my old Asus P5A mother board, and suddenly started to receive "out of memory errors" about every 2nd program opened, which I incorrectly faulted on Norton Anti Virus, and Clean Sweep.

    Boy was I wrong! This is due to a error known of by Msoft sense the days of Windows 3.11 (32 bit) Whenever there is over 64 meg of memory installed into a computer.

    CAUSE
    The Windows 32-bit protected-mode cache driver (Vcache) determines the maximum cache size based on the amount of RAM that is present when Windows starts. Vcache then reserves enough memory addresses to permit it to access a cache of the maximum size so that it can increase the cache to that size if needed. These addresses are allocated in a range of virtual addresses from 0xC0000000 through 0xFFFFFFFF (3 to 4 gigabytes) known as the system arena.

    On computers with large amounts of RAM, the maximum cache size can be large enough that Vcache consumes all of the addresses in the system arena, leaving no virtual memory addresses available for other functions such as opening an MS-DOS prompt (creating a new virtual machine).

    The "fix" is adding a few lines to the system.ini file.
    Under the 386Enh section add the following.

    386Enh
    ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1

    and Under VCache (amount varies, users choice)

    [VCache]
    MinFileCache=51200
    MaxFileCache=56320

    Refer to Msoft Article ID: Q253912 "Out of Memory" Error Messages with Large Amounts of RAM Installed

    and Msoft Article ID: Q108079 32-Bit File Access Maximum Cache Size

    I have not received that error once in 4 days, (I used to received it so often, I was almost ready to give up using my 'puter)

    Just as a FYI, if anyone knows of other article's about this problem, please list them up here!

    Hope this helps someone out there, as you all have helped me!
