I acidently messed with the brightness and contrast on my Panasonic DVD-RAM player. I recorded a DVD-RAM disc on my E30, than I recorded it again by playing it on my DVD-RAM player. There is a HUGE difference in contrast and brightness when this is done. I only wish I noticed this sooner. So, remember (if you also have a DVD-RAM player):
Record to DVD-RAM on the E30
Playback on a DVD-RAM player
Record this source back on the E30 with a DVD-R.
It's one extra step, but I think it fixes it. You just bring the brightness and contrast down to darken it and it will look normal when played back on other DVD players.

I'm sorry but it doesn't make much sense to me, it seems to me that you will lose quality after all that transfering, not to mention a waste of time. Why not buy a color enhancement device (Sima Color Corrector) and bring down the brightness?
I have the E50 and E30, for the E30 I use a product called an AVT-8710. This device has a built in color and brightness control, this enables me to set the darkness levels before I begin recording. It's almost like using the E50. 8) -

I guess, for me, it is too much of a waste of time because I am usually gone when I record the Simpsons, so, I have to go back and edit out the commercials. The quality isn't really sacrificed in my case because I record them in XP on DVD-RAM, and then I record them in SP on DVD-R. I put about 5 episodes on each DVD-R. As we all know, XP looks much better than SP on VHS (and I used to initially record them onto VHS first).
I guess I am just too stubborn (or cannot afford) to buy a E50. Although I wish I had the money to. I saw one at Wal-Mart for $379 which I guess is the standard price now. That's only $20 more than I paid for a display model at circuit city last year at this exact same time last year. Hey, maybe I can just go to CC and say mine has a defect and they will give me store credit like they did with my DVD player a few years ago.
