  2. It will soon be a moot point as it's just a matter of time before the CD-R drive is history. They're practically giving them away now with all of the rebates, and the DVD +/- RW drives are really dropping in price as well as the disks.

I wonder if in-dash stereos will be made to accept DVD's with audio files....

  3. They arent worth buying, no.. not at all. I wouldnt have one in the House. What possible reason could there be for having one?

  4. Well... first reason to buy a DVD burner is that you like movies! We won't get in to detail on how you "borrow" the movies to make a "backup" of it, but if you like movies it would be a primary reason to get one.

Another reason could be backups. My last "important documents" backup (which for 90% are photo's taken with my digital camera over the last three years) I needed 5 CD's to put them on. I can now put them all on 1 DVD, and still have about 40% capacity left to grow before I would need a second DVD.

I have also backed up several software installations and OS installations on DVD

Why do you have one? Why do you want to convince your friend to buy one? If you don't have good answers to those two questions then perhaps you shouldn't be trying to convince someone else.

  6. Its like one crack addict trying to get someone else hooked on crack, so they can share the rocks.
