Basic Capturing Help Please

Hi,

Can someone please direct me to the correct software for my problem thanks.

I have an avi file i want to get pictures from. How do i get a still from the file and make it into a jpeg picture file or bitmap etc....

Any help would be great

Use VirtualDub. It's free and i guarantee you WILL need it at some time or another.

Edit --> Go to ... (put in your frame number or scroll over to it manually)
Video --> Copy Source Frame to Clipboard

Paste in paint or whatever and there's your video frame. If you want, you can apply filters in virtualdub to your video and then choose
Video --> Copy Output Frame to Clipboard and paste wherever.
