Hi all. Does anyone know where I could set the default recording volume in PowerVCRII? I recorded a show last week and when I went to watch it later, the volume seemed loud. I checked the line in settings on my sound card and sure enough it was set too high. I readjusted it and thought that was that. I later opened PowerVCRII to record something else and on a whim, I rechecked the line in settings and it was set high again. PowerVCRII must take over the settings.
I can open PowerVCRII and then reset the line in record volume but I was just wondering if there was a way that I might set the default in the registry?
This never happened before but I did update the sound card drivers recently. Could this have done something? I also set the max recorded file size to 4Gb from the 650Mb but again, I don't think that this caused it.
Anyway, if anyone knows of a way to change the settings, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

  2. I, too, experienced PowerVCR's volume "hijack." Whenever I activated PowerVCR, the volume level would jump up to about 75%- way too loud, requiring a manual reset. Upon searching the registry, I found that the record volume is set by the key "RecVolume" in
"My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cyberlink\Pow erVCR II." My key read "b7 6D db b6 6d db e6 3F." Experimenting, I found that the "e6" value controlled the volume. Changing it to "b9" solved my problem. Apparently, it's a hex value ranging from "00" to "FF", with 00 being "zero" volume and "FF" being max. Experiment with a few values and you should find one that works.
So help me the bucket was full of rocks! Rocks!!!

    Thanks for the tip.

I can't figure out if there is a pattern to the changes because the hexadecimal numbering doesn't seem to match the % volume control (FF, 255 in decimal, being maximum then E6, 230 in decimal, should be 90% of max but it is more like 75%. Also, B9, 185 in decimal, should be 72.5% of max but it is more like 25%)

All this being said, it works so I thank you indeed.
