    Hi,

I have been ripping and authoring DVD's for a little while, and copying is no problem.

I justrecently tried to create a DVD from four seperate AVI's.

    I encoded them with TMPGEnc
I then authored using TMPGEnc DVD Author.
    Created ISO with Nero
    and burnt with DVD Decrypter.

I played it in my standalone. (phillips 612a)
Picture fine (blocky, but i know why)
    Sound- Nada

I followed the following link TMPGEnc Problems the sticky at the top of the newbie discussions.

    and found the following

If you get Audio errors, Audio out of sync problems or No Audio at all
Try to convert the audio to WAV audio before converting and use the WAV as audio source. (TMPGEnc can't handle VBR MP3 and AC3 that well)
I can do the conversion, no problems.

But rather than burn another coaster i would like to (try) and get it right this time.

I would burn to a RW disc, but for some reason my standalone, does not like the RW i have (Verbatim) despite that brand being recommended by the drive manufacturer.

Is there anything anyone can think i may have missed??

    &

do i need to tick the re-encoding box in TMPGEnc DVD Author in the picture??

    thanks in advance

  2. without wasting a dvdr, you could try to play it through powerdvd or other softwre dvd player. Be warned though, the software player is A LOT more forgiving than your standalone. An example would be that the sound is in sync, whereas on a standalone it is out of sync.

What is the audio bitrate that you are converting to? Maybe it is too low for the dvd player (i.e. 192 instead of 224).

I didnt realise that this might make the audio unplayable.

What would be the minimum that you recommend for audio to be playable on a standalone?

Is this something distinct, or does it vary from player to player?

    thanks in advance
