I already have a number of "photo to DVD" packages and none seem to provide me with what I'd like as my "pie-in-the-sky" solution.

    1. I'm burning DVD's, not VCD or SVCD.
    2. I don't need transition effects between photo's... I'd like to be able to manually move forward or backward within my "digital" album using the DVD remote.
    3. I'd like to annotate with text on each slide as to what it is, etc.

The only software I seem to be able to find will only do either one or two of the above, but not all.

Pinnacle's Instant Photo Album is the closest so far... it'll burn DVD's but not with the manual advance feature... that's only available when burning VCD & SVCD formats (huh?)... it also won't allow for text being added to each slide.

Ulead's MovieFactory 3 will burn DVD's... allow text annotations... but you can't set manual advancing.

Does someone know of a piece of software that does all this or do I have to resort to using a number of separate pakages to get the desired effect ?

Is it as simple as using something like Pinnacle Studio and setting a chapter mark for each and every photo I add...?

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated as I've scoured the net and I don't seem to be having much luck.

    Thanx in advance.

  2. I'm looking too.

DVD-Lab aslo saves slide shows but just makes a video of the pics, no manual advance.

The closest I have come is with DVD Maestro.
    - Create a menu for each Pic.
    - Each menu has timeout value of whatever, like 8 seconds, and the timeout action is to goto the next menu. The last menu goes to the first.
    - Each menu has 2 buttons, one for 'play movie' and one for Next Pic.
    - Each 'play movie' does the same thing - play chapter 1.
    - Each 'Next Pic' button is setup with Auto-Action pointing to the next pic.

So my best menu's have both auto advance and manual advance 'now'

But.. since you want to just manual advance, you could just do the button thing. Of course, if you have 100 pics, this is too much. I've done as many as 21, but even with just 6 pics this is a pain in the butt.
