  1. Ok, i went to radio shack and got an adapter (analog to svideo) to go from my analog camera to the pc. i use windows maker. it came out blurry! is there a way to fix this. The adapter cost me 22$. Its like it didnt make a difference from using just rca out to in. Looks the same

Is there a setting im suppose to change or something?

  2. In my openion an adapter would not increase the quality. I would only use an adapter if direct connection was not possible. High quality cables can help quality by reducing line loss and interference.

By you saying your captured files are blury makes me think you are not using the right codec / resolution / etc. I don't like Windows Movie Maker and don't use it. There are far better capturing programs available.

If you are on a fairly fast connection I would download the 'trial version' of Ulead VideoStudio V7 and try capturing with it. Try the MPEG2-DVD Template supplied with the program and try AVI capture using HUFFYUV codec. THis program captures very nice from my Hi8 camera and is easy to use.

Other than that I would try adjusting the settings in movie maker and raise the quality level, and maybe ditch the adapter if a direct connect can be used.

    Good luck.

  4. You have a COMPOSITE to S-VIDEO adapter. Both are analog cable types. The adapter has absolutely nothing to do with filetype conversion. Such an adapter is only useful when there is no composite input available.

Either MMC or VDUB, capping to AVI @720x480 will most likely give you better results. Do some test encodes, you will probably need to increase color saturation and perhaps brightness. Do NOT test this using PC playback as it will not yield accurate results, unless you intend to use the PC as the main playback device. You must burn a disk - use an RW - and test on the standalone DVD.

There are many informative guides and posts on this site, numerous variables you need to familiarize yourself with. It is complex at first, but with some effort it will soon start to make sense.
