hi
i read in a previous post how to set up the bitrate for a mpg1 unlocking the fild in TMPGEnc (loading a template)
but if i set to a lower bitrate i find no change in the filesize of my new mpg
but if i set it to a higher bitrate it works fine...
anyone knows why?
i have TMPGEnc last version

Be sure to set it to VCD (non-standard).

when i use the unlock template
to unlock the grayed fields (bitrate etc)
i get MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps
its this what you mean?Increase knowledge, increase sorrow. -

i have to get back to my older version because sometimes i donwload video files and When I'm playing them in media player 9, some of them will only show as being a short clip (usually under a minute) when they may be much longer.
The whole thing plays but there is no way to know how long they are or to seek ahead...
the only way i found to fix it is reencoding them, but with the new version:
TMPGEnc-2.521.58.169-Plus it only enconde the minutes that shows in media player (1 or 2 minutes)
dont know why...
pls anyone has a clue?Increase knowledge, increase sorrow. -
You have a corrupt mpeg file. This can happen when a large mpeg is cut/joined. You can try a couple of the mpeg repair tools in the tools section. But I've found that usually MPEG-VCR's gop fixer works pretty good.
You may want to also try VirtualDub (for Mpeg1) or VirtualDub-Mod for mpeg1/mpeg2. -
i dont like womble mpeg-vcr very much, 'cause once i cut something with it..
if i want to re-encoded the file later on with TMPGEnc..
it takes ages..
and i dont get sound...
dont know why, but this happens everytime i use mpeg-vcr with an mpgIncrease knowledge, increase sorrow. -

The whatever you're downloading is corrupt, that's the most probable answer.

You need to frameserve it to TMPGenc if you wish to re-encode it!
Use dvd2avi if it is mpeg 2 or virtualdub if it is mpeg 1 for this. -

anyway i was able to see the video with no problem, before i install my adobe products, (premiere, AfterEffects, etc)
but after, when i play the video, its only appears like a 2 minute video..
if i re-encoded with a older version of TMPGEnc it plays fine..
(but i have to reencoded, lose quailty, time, etc)
but when i try to re-encoded, with the last version of TMPGEnc2.521.58.169-Plus it only enconde the minutes that shows in media player (1 or 2 minutes)
so basically my question is...
there is a way to reverse the changes made by adobe, (i try to unistall them with no luck) so i can watch the whole video in media player..
or
to re-encode it in the last version of TMPGEnc (2.521.58.169-Plus) without having to frameserve??
thanks a lot

You could have a codec conflict. You can disable individual codecs using the control panel. Select 'Sounds & Audio Devices' or 'Sounds & Multimedia' (depends on your OS). Then the Hardware tab. Scroll throught the list until you find the Video codecs. Double click the Video Codecs, or highlight it and click the properties button. Click the PROPERTIES tab. You should see a full list of all video codecs installed on your PC.
To see what codec is being used to decode your video, use AVICodec (find it in the TOOLS section). You can also use MPEG Properties (also in the TOOLS section) to view MPEG info. The AVICodec tool title is a bit misleading. It will report codecs for almost any kind of audio/video input.Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...
