i have always used adobe premiere to capture dv video from my camcorder. but i had a problem with it capturing to my new external drive. so i tried DVIO, and it works great. but i have one question: what is the difference between type 1 avi and type 2 avi? ive captured using both and havent noticed any differences. which one should i be using?

    Check the 'Glossary' :https://www.videohelp.com/glossary?D#DV
DV2 is needed for Virtualdub and works well with TMPGEnc. If you have DV1 there is a converter to DV2 in the 'Tools' section.
