  1. Foulks!

I'm encountering some probs with burning a ripped DVD. before I go one, here are some spec about the steps before burning...

for normal DVD-9-to DVD-5 (that'll fit on one cd):

    - using Autoshrink:
Settings: most of it is default, I include DVDrom content, and always make an image without burning.
    - Hit start and DVDshrink showes up (latest version). I leave the compressopn settings as the are. And backup that thing...
    - after that an Image is made.
No errors or what so ever...

With DVD-9 that i want to split to 2 DVD, i use DVD splitter....
    - I select the source, where the new files will be saved, a temp folder and a backup folder. And I select the Split option...
    - Ok let's roll. Everything goes fine. As you may know, dvdstripper uses DVDdecrypter for de ripping part.
-When this is finished I klick next to select te items and titles I want on my 2 discs... no prob with that...
    - Hit process. and after a while i get that de job is succesfully completed...

I don't know why, but I always want an image file to be burnt... So when only have the files ripped, i use imgtool, to create a image file....

Is use a Liteon 451 and I have a LG 5353 standalone player...

I started Out burning DVD's to weeks ago... thirst it were normal DVD-9 discs that will fit eventually on a DVD-5 disc. I used only DVD-decrypter en DVDshrink and imgTOOL for making a DVD...

But yesterday i did the same thing again and everything went right, exept the DVD doesn't play on my standalone player... only in my Burning-rom player, the other DVDplayer in my PC won't see my DVD to....

I'm guessing that something is going wrong during the burnproces. cause i get no errors or what so ever...

it's a vague thing, but i;m getting sick and tyerd that when I think i have found out wich tools I can use for a propper ripped DVD it always ends up with an error once in a while...

i hope somebody can help me with some standard guidelines or what so ever. and if extra information is needed, or my post is really not undestandeble, doesn't matter, ill give extra information when needed..

    fo now,

    thnx in advance!
    D.

PS. there's been only DVD that was bashed up and did'n't worked at all... the others, only worked on my DVDburner... And i use the right type of storage media...

I use Autoshrink ISO>DVDShrink>DVDDecrypter to burn with no problems. With this setup you don't need ImgTools. I haven't tried splitting DVD9 to 2 discs. Is your problem only when you split to 2 discs? The idea of using an image file is to eliminate most burning problems, so I would suspect your problem may be before the burning process.

  3. HE!

To be honest, i'm in an experimental fase now, trying to find out what'best to use for ripping and burning DVD's. A couple of days ago I ripped a dvd that had to be burnt on 2 discs. At first trying to shrink the origninal DVD a small as possible i had some errors. but when i used dvdstripper, it worked out fine... my steps where: original DVD open with DVDstripper-> decrypte with dvddecrypter, then cut it with dvdstripper in to two discs... i did the same with pirates.o.t.c. but i read that were some probs with this DVD. but i did the same thing, and made indeed an iso file cause stripper doesn't do this, for the reason you gave me... everything gave a possitive result, exept the burnend DVD...

But to be short. indeed, when i use autoshrink for you ordinary DVD's it works fine, I thought so. But yesterday i ripped an other DVD with autoshrink, and didn;t worked out. I think the reason for this was, that i overlooked a step...

It's a hell of job to get the right 'configuration' for burning DVD's. and i thought i had the awnser.... but on the contrary...:S i;m now burning again. i've ripped the DVD again, using dvdecryptor... if this doesnt work also.... i'm gonna stick with autoshrink, and burn only cd's that;ll fit one DVD...

I just finished burning the DVD and again no result!!!! My DVD drive nor my standalone player will read the DVD.... strange... i really think it has something to do with the burning process.. cause everything during ripping and imaging went alright....

    hmmmmmm:S
well back to the drawing board.....:S
    thanx!

    later!

  5. you might have some problems with the TOC. I have, The Stupidest software in the world (Nero OEM) won't even allow you to burn re-authored DVDs from DVD shrink more than once! redo your process everytime you reburn. that might be the solution. If not, get better burning software!

  6. BDF24:

indeed i have, and it had no probs...!!!! it worked great, no glitches or what so ever, just plain old good quality DVD..
So that isn't the problem:S unfortunately... (ok i can read it from my hd, so what next?)

    JZhang:

your kiddin'!?! so to put it other words... i shrink a DVD with DVDshrink... Í can burn 1! DVD. and then i have to do it all over again...
So if i have a rental DVD for example. then first i have to rip the filles with DVDdecrypter and shrink... ok, it's one step more, but I can live with that... To be honest, i started out with NERO but i got several times an error like unknown burnphase... whatever nero..... But it's pretty stupid don't you think... if you want to have your ripped moveis backedup fore a while on your Hd that you have tohave the plain film with no shrinking... :S hmmm and i thought nowadays everything is going faster and faster... well ok! doenst matter

BTW hakuna mattat means: 'it means no worries'. but i assume you already knew that (I watched Lionking for 10 times with my borther's kid in a row!!!, i can sing the whole song, scarry)

    The plan now is:

i've already upgraded the firmware, founded on the writer review section... V7. havent tested it yet
I also found a tool for my writer to check if my write-media is compatible, and hoeray! it was.... so indeed, it think it has to do with the ripping part or what so ever...

for now, i'm gonna use autoshrink for my one time ripping DVD things...

The only problem is, when i want to burn 1 dvd to 2 discs with dvdstripper that's gonna be a nervewrekking experience, but what the hell...

It's intressting to find out the right method, the only problem is, is that i have enough coasters (10) to supley my inlaws:P

thanx for the tips, i'll keep you updated on the situation... if it takes a while, i'll make a new topic, with the same titel with the word Sequal added to it

for no, good night (for me) goodmorning good afternoon!!

    leter!

I personally don't keep the menues and extra's seeing as all I care about is the movie. So I only use one DVD-R.

The method I use is DVDDecrypter - DVDShrink - Nero (or DVDShrink which uses Nero if I want to make the copy right away). Works flawlessly in my RCA DVD player. Only had a problem with one movie so far. That was "Old School". it stutters in my player using the same media I've backed up my other movies on. Made 3 coasters so far trying it. Don't know what's up with that. Oh well.

Are you sure the problem your having is'nt related to the media your using? What brand are you using for your backups? Have you tried different brands? Some players are more picky then others. even that of the same brand and model. Nothing is exactly the same as the next. Could be you just need to find the right recordable media for your player?

  8. I've traxdata discs, and found that they are supported by my drive, but like you said, you'll never know...
I tried More DVD+r and to be honest.... these went great?!?! hmmmmm okidoki! the only prob is that my standalone player doesn't support +R maybe i can use the 'booktype' tool
    thanx!!
