When my friend applied for the CD, he received an email informing him that his order has been processed but I never received any such email

Could it be that my order was rejected ???

you can download every update. then you can incorperate them into the OS already. This CD is for the somewhat lazy people

What about the executables of the programs you paid for? Do you delete those executables once you enter your license code?
And you throw your license code away too?

What about someone about to do a re-install of their O/S?
I think it would be DAMN HANDY to have the updates on a CD in case their somewhat complicated internet connection is out of commission for a while after the O/S re-install.

not only that but this is quite helpful to folks that are still running dial up. it is also quite helpful to me when i install xp on someone's computer that only has dial up at their house. as is the sp1 cd that i often use.

this cd is DAMN HANDY!!!!! thanks to the orignal poster for the hook up.

What the heck are you talking about? If you want to backup all your programs that you've downloaded, just burn them to a CD(s).

Heck Hech, you've been around for a long time

No, I'm not being a smartarse, you should remember that saying huh

I'll just to clue you in a little. Do a google search on slipstreaming windows OS. Heck Hech, you don't even have to do a google search, just search this form for the links to a site that will show you how to incorporate all the updates into a windows OS and make a bootable CD....

Now once you order this nefty new CD from MS dated 2003, do you think your set? What about the next flaw that is found? OH, yeah, back to downloading updates again....Sheesh

    Opps....mood swing

Let's try this in English for "Mr. Moody"..
What about the executables of the programs you paid for? Do you delete those executables once you enter your license code?
And you throw your license code away too?

    ....means:

The Windows updates automatically install to my computer. I can easily go and make a data CD of updates for older systems like 98. My XP Pro notifies me of an update....the computer downloads them and installs them without me ever seeing anything. NO chance to save them to a CD-R for a later re-install of XP should that scenario ever come up.
Sooo....having them all on a CD-R would be VERY handy indeed. Just like having my .exe and .iso files and the license key's to go with them on CD-R for software I purchased online.
And as far as further updates from Microsoft after I get my CD in the mail?....once I get my pain-in-the-ass T-Online connection back up and running(WITH the help of the older XP updates from the Microsoft CD)...my computer would once again notify me of further updates.

There now....that wasn't so hard now was it?

  10. Poor soul.......

I think you need to read my post above again....You know, the part about slipstreaming....

Your XP computer downloads those updates from somewhere right?
Hmmmm....maybe you could do it the same way manually...Hmmm...

Wait, never mind, You're completely correct, it's much easier for you to order the out of date security patches on the MS CD.....sorry
