  1. Hi, I'm cofronted with the following problem.

I have a DVD that is slightly damaged. It still plays in a stand-alone player without missing a beat, but when I try to use it in my DVD-drive, the movie halts. Trying to make a copy blocks as well (I tried Smartripper and DVD decrypter in IFO and ISO mode).
So I was wondering, is there a way to make a good copy of this movie (other than sending the signal over a capture card) with my stand-alone player?
Just copying the main movie is enough, I can do without the menu and theres no extra's.

    Thanks.

Are you just trying in your DVD burner or do you have a DVD-ROM that you've tried it in as well? If you only have your burner you may have better luck with a DVD-ROM reading the disk instead. If you can get a hold of one to use try that. Otherwise maybe try downloading all sorts of copy software and try different ones. Some do things better then others. For example DVDX Copy is supposed to be able to fix damaged DVD's when ripping them.

    Good Luck.

It's sort of funny though. My sons SpiderMan movie is extremely scratched and scuffed up. It will not play smoothly in my Stand alone player or computer. It skips and freezes constantly. But I am able to rip in and make a perfect copy that plays flawlessly. Go figure
