  1. i need help, im a newbie at capturing video through my viewcam and burning on to dvd. first my viewcam has rca plugs and i want to use my toshiba satellite laptop to convert it. first what hardware do i need, and next what software. im using a sharp viewcam, my toshiba is 512m
    40 gig celeron procesor.

    If your camera just has RCA out for video and audio, you probably need a seperate box to capture. There are USB2 boxes that do well and Firewire converters that work better. A laptop is not the best setup as you need a lot of harddrive space. Either way, you need a Firewire card or port or a USB2 port. USB1 is pretty slow for video. If you don't mind the cost a ADVC-100 and a Firewire Cardbus card works well. Check out the 'Capture Cards' section to the left for more options. Also check the 'DV' forum.
