  1. I am trying to take avi to DVD here. I have 22 avi files, all roughly 45 minutes in video, making it a little around 200 megs each. I tried to combine some into one file (using the ffmpegX). I thought that I would probably use 3 per joined file (to make seperate DVDs) and was first wondering if this was the max amount of episodes that I would probably be able to fit on a disc? Secondly, when i am joining the episodes, i have a file that ends in .temp. Do i erase that everytime i want to join another file to make it like i am joining two avis? Thirdly, when I went to get info on the filesize to see if it had worked, it appeared to, however, when i set it in toast, it said that it was only 44 minutes, like the size of one episode. So, does anyone have any suggestions?

What kind of FILES are they?
AVI doesn't say enough, as the AUDIO VIDEO INTERLEAVE format is a catchall wrapper for widely varing formats
f you have QUICKTIME PRO installed, it should join your AVI's with no RE-RENDERING...
    Unless they are MPEG-4

I'm curious why you don't just drag a couple files to Toast as individual movies? I don't think Toast will author more than 90 minutes of video unless it is already in MPEG form.

  4. i tried using toast to convert 1 and 3 avi files, neither of them had sound. Now, i am currently trying to convert to DVD format using DVD Studio Pro, but is taking a long ass time. As far as the type of avi, it just says AVI movie. i will try quicktime pro if i can find it. maybe that will help out some? any other suggestions?

an option i can offer would be to try just one of these files [before they are converted to quicktime able files] with mpeg2works
this should convert the .avi to .mpeg for you to then compile into a dvd image easily

but try it with just one and see.

you can get more info on the .avi if you open it with VLC and push command I

Galactica, Is anyone putting out a CODEC APPLIANCE for the MAC?
Because he must be having difficulties because its not a "regular avi" but a DIVX or some other MPEG-4 codec that cannot be joined with Quicktime, or any of the MPEG-1 or 2-MERGE type tools..

*Codec Appliance - Info program that tells you what codec is used in a given file
