I was backing up a Farscape episode disk and I encountered the following error when ripping VT_11-1.VOB = "Skipping Sectorxxxxxx-Pack Header Not Found". It repeated several times. The file when ripped to HD was 23MB's too small and when I tried to open in CloneDVD I got vob navigation pack error. Cleaning the disk with alcohol didn't help.
I finally ripped the bad vob only in my Pioneer 106 writer and that solved the problem. Apparently the slow ripping speed of the Pioneer allowed it to read thru the bad sectors. I have found that slow ripping speed usually salvages bad disks.

I dont think its the slower speed.
I have the rip limit removed by >NIL: 's hacked firmware.
Writers are just better at reading scratchy disks because of their laser.
