I have several analog beta and vhs tapes to digitize. Is there a quality rca to s-video adapter that can separate chroma from luminance? Does anyone have advice about converting composite video to s-video. I want to remove the chroma distortion.

    Thank you.

  2. RadioShack has a gadget that converts composite video to s-video plus it also converts the audio to digital audio both optical and coax (about $39).

  3. Actually, Radio Shack has composite to s-video converters for $16 Cnd. I used two of them in my home theatre.

  4. Once the signal is combined and the seperation is needed you start down the degredation path.

Putting the chroma and luma together into composite video in the
source causes the distortion. Taking it apart again cannot help .

  6. Yeah, I just did it because my receiver doesn't do video conversion & I didn't want to run separate cables from the vcr to the tv.
