for the movies that i need to get the subtitles for i use dvdx and it dosent always work same with flask mpeg im trying to back up a gundam wing dvd and one of the episodes just will not convert normaly the mpegs made with dvdx for the 24min episodes are about 246 meg when i tried to use flask mpeg i stoped it after i found the file had almost reached 1.7G is there another sofware i can use to also get the subtitles besides those 2

You obviously aren't using FlaskMPEG correctly. It is the best program for subtitles.
Did you use the bbMPEG plug-in or just AVI? It sounds like you converting to uncompressed AVI...
If you use Flask, you should strongly consider getting the Panasonic MPEG Encoder plug-in. It is one of the best quality MPEG-1 encoders at VCD bitrates (including TMPGEnc) and is faster than bbMPEG.
Also, you should consider getting the subtitled fixed version of FlaskMPEG 0.6.
