  1. I searched the forums for a while but had not luck with my problem. Here it is...

I'm capturing with an ATI AIW 128 Pro pci. I captured direct to Mpeg2 VBR using MMC 7.2 (the only version I've gotten the TV function to work in ). When playing the captured file the sync is ok. But as the captured audio is 44.1khz and I also want it in AC3 I have to demux and convert. I demux using the Mpeg tools in TMPGEnc. To play the now seperate files to check for sync I've loaded them into both TMPGEnc Author and Mpeg2Schnitt. In each case the audio is out of sync in a rather bizarre fasion.

The initial moments of the movie are in sync. Very early in the film though the sync goes off by a second or two and remains that way! This is without any editing being done... only demuxed.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  2. Hi!

When you change the bitrate of the sound from any format to DVD compliant 48000, changes the speed and the duration of the track too.

You can check the duration of the video and the audio files separately.
If the times you have are different, then you have to fix the speed (the duration) of the audio (because it is easy). To do this I use as audio editor Cool Edit Pro but you can can use another editor that can reduce the speed and the duration of the track.
It's easy, just open the audio track in the audio editor and change the speed by setting the duration as the same duration of the video file.

Save the file as WAV or MP3 then you can convert it to AC3 or MP2 with BeSweet.
Don't worry about the convertion that you have to do again because
the bitrate of the sound will not change and the speed too.

    Enjoy!

  3. Thanks for the info, but perhaps I should have made myself more clear. I've demuxed the audio and have not yet resampled it. I've taken the original in-sync file and demuxed it. Now, without anything else being done to them, I load the separate files in an authoring program and they are out of sync.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again.
