Optorite dd0201 data burning problems

I bought the above mentioned DVD burner and have no problems backing up DVD's but cannot burn data files to a DVD for backup. The recorder burns the data onto the DVD and says successful at the end but when I put the disc back in the drive the computer locks up until the disc is ejected by me.
I am using Nero 6 and have flashed the firmware to 2.5 and have used the bulkpaq orange discs R-. Have tried Packard bell R+ and R- but neither works. My comp us up to date with XP and a Pentium 4. Can anyone please help??

I am having similar problems, I just bought the drive and started off using Bulpaq Orange discs, Everything seemed to burn ok but the drive was not able to read anything it had burned, especially data. I upgraded the firmware to 2.5 but this has not rectified the problem, if anything it has made it slightly worse. However, when i tried the discs in a dvdrom on another computer all data is there and accessible, the same with all movies i have burned. I have recently tried some new discs Ritek G04 and Datawrite red but neither have any improvemnent on the Bulkpaq Orange and the Datawrite Red, even tho they are rated at 4x will only burn at 2x. Ive used Roxio EZCD 6, Nero 6 and DVD Decryptor on a Windows XP System. I have yet to burn a disc with the Optorite, that the optorite can read afterwards.
