I am using a canopus advc50 for capture and solved major problems with capture (sound interruptions and jerky video) by turning off video stabilizer on the VCR.
I still get the occasional click or pop that sound like a CD that has been ripped in a bad CD ROM.
Not sure if it is coming from the VCR.
Has anyone else had some sound issues like this with capture using devices such as the ADVC50.
I wonder if Canopus have some testing protocol that can eliminate or find it once and for all?

It sounds like a VCR or tape issue. If you're using Hi Fi audio, try setting it to normal and test to see if that solves the problem. I've had tapes that were recorded in dirty VCRs that have some buzzing sounds in the Hi Fi tracks, but the normal linear tracks sound okay. If you have problems with the video, then the Hi Fi audio will be affected as well, since Hi Fi is recorded in the same track as the video.
I don't have a Canopus (yet), so I can't comment on that.
