I just got this DVD player. To my surprise, this little player plays all my MPEG files. Normally, I would have to author my MPEG files to be VCD, SVCD in order to be able to play them in a DVD player. With this Terrapin, I don't.

Is this a new trend in DVD Players?

  2. i doubt its a new trend.. its more of a feature.. terrapin use to (maybe still does) make standalone vcd recorders, the results (from what i've heard) were quite impressive..

there are other dvd players that will play mpegs, i think some of the apex's do it.. i had one that would, but it died a few months after i bought it.. then i went through 2 more apex's in less than a year.. so screw apex..

My Terrapin does the same thing, but the timer is very small to bother me.

I tried with my brother's Digix DVD player, the timer was not displayed.
