  1. I have a cendyne 52x cd-rw drive, when using nero i want to use 2x or 4x to burn an svcd, but the only options that nero gives me are 8x up to 52x. Before i put the cd-r media in the drive, I have a 4x option, but once i put the disc in the option disappears. Is this a problem with the brand of disc(TDK). Do some brands of cd-r's only allow a certain minimum speed they can be written at? Thanks

I think it's the media. Why would you want to burn at a slow speed?

  3. When I play my svcd's with the header trick on my dvd player, the video and audio is pretty choppy. I want to try burning at a slower speed to see if it will make it any better, or if it just isnt compatible with my dvd player.

Check cendyne for any firmware updates to the drive.

Nero has a utility that might be some help.
    Dynamic Write Speed off
"Download DynWrSpeed_Off.zip and extract the zipped files onto your hard disk using WinZip or WinRar.
Run the registry patch contained in the zipped file by double-clicking it.
It modifies Nero so that the speeds supported by the recorder can no longer be calculated dynamically but is derived from a table in the burner's firmware.
Nero should now, at the latest, display all speeds supported by the burner provided that there is no recordable CD in the burner. "

[EDIT] I checked a TDK CD R disk in a Plextor PX 708A and the write values are the same as slimmx.

  6. your problem is not with burning spped it is more likely that your player is not svcd compatible esp if you need to run the header trick.
