I have spoke to a few people about this problam and as of yet I am still without a result. My problem is that I have downloaded Smallville on AVI (Xvid) and I want to put a few episodes onto a DVD until it gets released as it takes them too long to put it onto DVD. I am in the UK, but I am not changing the 23.976fps of NTSC as my TV will play it. Now the AVI is really really good quality when I watch it on WMP, but as soon as I either encode it (Canopus, TMPGEnc, Mainconcept) the sync goes out.
I have used GoldWave, Sound Forge 5 & Virtual Dub to create a uncompressed WAV and stretch it to the exact length of the video and merged them. Then used Virtual Dub to alter the skew, but then the sync goes out at the end, this isnt the same for all the episodes though, others don't even marry up.
One person told me that the original author of the Xvid has made it so it can't be converted back!!! There must be a way, there must.
If I am not going to get anywhere with this please someone tell me and let me put a bullet in all the procedings.
I thank each and everyone of you who in advance for reading this post and would be honoured by your comments and help.
