I have a wintv go pci card for a couple of years now. I recently switched to windows xp pro and now I only get sound from the left speaker from my line in source. For everything else both speakers work, just the line in doesn't go through both speakers. I checked all my connections and they are connected good. I had sound in both speakers before when i had windows ME. Is this a driver issue? I am using the latest WDM drivers from hauppauge's site. I am using composite connections and the audio going directing into my sound card (Built in on mobo).

    thanks

Try another source for line in to make sure its not a line in problem,if it still has only one side then go to control panel/sound and audio devices/audio and check both line in for record and playback properties and see if the balance is to one side.

  4. Check your connections again...

Is the line-in jackplug making contact within the socket for both left and right channels?

My sound card's line-in sometimes fails on one channel and i always find it's the line-in plug not making contact within it's socket - the line-in plug is a very tight fit and presses against the plug in the adjacent socket on my sound card just enough sometimes to lose one channel's contact in the socket.

Thanks for the help. I figured out what it was. The line in jack was pushed all the way in to make sure it was a tight fit but when i pulled half of the tip out then I had sound from both speakers. That's wierd I guess it was just pushed in too far but I dunno why though I didn't force it. So As long as I have it pulled out a little bit it seems to work. thanks

  6. Sounds like a cheap plug.

3.5mm stereo patch leads and plugs can be a varied mix of quality and sub-standard parts.

I'd bet that a decent quality replacement wouldn't need to be 'semi-inserted' into your line-in - no need for a bodge job!
