I converted DV to DVD using the following steps:
1. With the DV .avi file as my input, generated separate video and audio streams using TMPGenc.
2. Created folder with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS subfolders.
3. Used IfoEdit to author new DVD, using the two MPEG streams as the input and pointing output to the VIDEO_TS folder.
4. Created ISO image with ImgTool.
5. Burned .iso file to both DVD+R and DVD-R with DVDDecrypter.
Both DVDs played in an Apex 1201 and a Koss 305. They would not play in a Samsung (I forget the model #) and a Cyberhome 320.
I changed step 3 to use TMPGenc DVD Author and authored a menu-less DVD. I burned to +R and -R. Both of these played in the Apex and the Koss, and also in the Samsung. I didn't test it in the Cyberhome yet, but I suspect it will work.
What's different about the authored output with these two programs? Why was compatibility affected by the authoring method used?
