I always wondered about this option... does it eliminate that slight ringing you hear in the audio when people talk...when ripping a DVD and playing it on your stand alone?
Most of the time I dont even notice it... but if a certain tone of voice is used it seems very prevelant.
I assumed being a wave file it would be at least CD quality... but it is worse. I make VCD not SVCD and don't wish to persue SVCD. I bought Eagles "Hell freezes" DVD because I was afraid it wouldnt sound good if I ripped it... but now I am starting to wonder if I could have made my own copy from the video rental store that sounds just as good. hehe

From what I can tell, this is exactly what it does and is for (removing the "ringing" sensation, plus the "skipping" you'll find if you try converting 48k DVD to 44,100k WAV with most freeware programs...)
Seems to work great for me, but any two people will have two opinions about sound quality...
