Very interesting, Polaroid huh? Who'd have thought they'd come up with a DivX player? I see it lists DivX versions 3,4,5, plus DivX VOD, whatever that is. Maybe this is the competition those dickheads at LiteOn need to get them moving on some upgrades.

  3. They've been carrying this Polaroid player for a while now. Try to find any info about it on Polaroid website - good luck. Polaroid the photo company went bankrupt a long time ago, so they must have sold the brand rights to some crappy company.

The box is supposed to be total crap, cheap and cheaply made, hardly plays anything at all, I heard it doesn't even play XviD. Not sure if it's true - I have never actually seen it. I own a LiteOn 2002 and I sure hope those guys get their ass moving towards the next firmware release.

  4. There are plenty of threads and posts on this forum on this player - it is DIVX "self-certified" player - something that DIVX (the company) really regrets now.

  5. I actually own this player, for the moment anyway. I have packaged it back up and am going to return this. This player is actually not bad except for one thing. All of my divx .avi's are cropped on all sides when viewing any of them. They are all 640x480. The bad thing is that I have a lot of subtitled videos and they are getting cropped off. Thus rendering it unusable.

I am looking at the Lite-on lvd 2002, and the bravo D1 player. Trying to decide which one to pick.

Has anyone else experienced this cropping problem??

I have the Bravo D1 but haven't tried it for DIVX yet but it sure outputs a clean picture at 720p via the DVI connector. As for your cropping problem have you tried in the players setup to change the aspect ratio of the player from 16x9 to pan and scan (standard) or vice versa?

  7. Supposedly if you plan on using DVI then lean toward the Bravo D1 or if you plan on the component input then the Lite-on...from what I've read.

The only thing about the Bravo is that there is a 4 week back-order on it when I checked the website. In regards to the polaroid, I am playing the videos off of CD-R's I burned. The video output settings for the player had panscan/letterbox/wide-screen. I tried them all and the video wouldn't change. Seems like when it's playing a divx video, it ignores whatever settings you have. I pretty much tried every setting possible on the machine with no success, and have given up. I think I might give the lite-on lvd 2002 a try as I don't have a fancy TV. Also cause it's cheaper. Crossing my fingers that I can finally play my videos on the machine.

  11. I got my LVD-2002 and I absolutely love it and it will only get better with the new firmware! No player is ever going to be able to play EVERY type of avi or divx file because there are too many variables. But the LiteOn is excellent! I am thinking of buying another one for another room!!

  12. Buy me one, too. I'll write a review or something, even.
