  1. I D/L a moive in two parts from the net. I used VirtualDub to put the two parts together. But when I try to see the movie as a whole in WMP and its all out of sync. When the two parts (files) were not joined I saw it ok but now that its joined it all out of wack. I have tried reading some threads but I am still confused. I also tried to use DVD2SVCD the AVI2DVD option but no go as well. Can anyone offer some guidance.

I want to put two AVI files with AC3 into a DVD with AC3 and english subs.

  2. An easy option would be to treat the two files as seperate entities create one then the other and then use tmpgenc dvd author to edit the dvd. Have file 1 as part 1 and file2 as part 2. You will not see the seam as tmpgenc dvd author will go straight to chapter 2 after completing chapter 1 (I think).

That right, add both parts to the same track and it will play straight through
    both parts as one movie.

  4. Thanks for your quick replies guys. I have concern regarding the two files. Since I did the "Append AVI Segment" in VirtualDub...the two files play out of sync when viewed in Windows Media Player or WinDVD...the picture looks like the tracking needs adjusting on a VCR for example. Will the above method usind the TMPGenc DVD Author correct this problem? Or will I have to use another program? Again thanks for your help.

Did you delete the original files?
When you in VDub you create a new larger file but should still have the 2 originals.

  6. No.

Convert the two files independently from each other. Don;t join then at all. When in tmpgenc have one as file one and the second as file 2.

If you use tmpgenc to convert and it has auto bitrate calculation on. Half that and do the same for the next one to ensure that it will fit on one dvd.

  7. Andyp1, Yes I still have the original files but when I go to play them all i get is a blurry lines across the screen. I followed the directions to VirtualDub through their site but video came out un viewable (the audio is okay though).

Is there a program that could sync or get the video to play correctly. The thing is when I play the two files or the one (created from the two) the picture is fine....so I think i have to adjust or convert something within VDub but what i don't know. Any suggestions?

    Hardcoreruss:

How do i prosses the files individually? Use a Avi to Mpeg 2 converter? I got the files to play the way they should (everything is fine) Now i want to do what you suggested. So do i convert each file to mpeg (2 or 3?) and then use TMPGenc to put the two files together?

If i wanted to add english subs...where along the process do it put them in?

    Once again thanks guys!

I would take part1.avi and convert to DVD in TMPGenc Plus . Then take part2.avi and convert to DVD with TMPGenc Plus.
    THis will give you four files called eg. part1.m2v , part1.wav , part 2.m2v , and part2.wav .
Then I would use TMPGenc DVD Author to create a Video_TS folder which I can burn to a DVD with Nero.
In TMPGenc DVD Author you add part1.m2v and part1.wav is automatically inserted with it. Then Add part2.m2v and part2.wav is automatically added . Then output and part 1 and part 2 will just flow seamlessly on the DVD playback.
Sorry I don't do subtitles maybe someone else can help with that side of things.

Did anybody read eros28's situation correctly?

I want to put two AVI files with AC3 into a DVD with AC3 and english subs.
You're in the exact situation I am in. First, load part1.AVI into TMPGEnc Plus and convert it to MPEG-2; select "ES (Video Only)" and the output will be part1.M2V which will have no audio. Download VirtualdubMOD and then load the part1.AVI into it. Click on "Streams" and then "Stream List." On that list, there should be 1 entry that says AC3. Click on it and then click "Demux." It should take you about a minute and a half. You will get an AC3 file.

Next, repeat the above steps for part2.AVI. Normally, you can then load these two M2V files along with their AC3 audio into TMPGEnc DVD Authoring (the authoring program) and it would play fine on your DVD player without any sync problems. However, TMPGEnc DVD Authoring does not support external subtitle files. I have subs too and I am not sure what to do. If anybody can help, please do.
