  1. When I open any .m2v file from a commercial DVD in TMPGEnc it takes several minutes to scan the file before it opens. M2v files from home recorded DVD-R's don't have this delay. I have lived with it for a couple of years and would like to know if there is a solution.

  2. Could it be because of encryption on the commercial DVD?

  3. I guess encryption could be it. I thought that the encryption was removed by DVDDecryptor. I have it set up to do so. The same thing happens no matter what ripper is used. I am still able to encode but the delays are annoying and time consuming.

I prefer to run the DVD VOB files through DVD2AVI and create a D2V project file.

Never had any issues with the D2V loading in TMPGEnc Plus

It never takes any time either.

You might be able to run it through DVD2AVI to get a D2V project file. If it won't load it try changing it to filename.mpg and try that.

You could also try loading it into TMPGEnc using an AviSynth AVS script or load it into VirtualDubMod and frameserve it.
