    Download dBPowerAmp,
    http://www.dbpoweramp.com/
then install the WMAV codec. Just did this myself last night to convert WMA to mp3. It handles most audio types/conversions (with appropriate codecs/dl), and is freeware.

Your questions make no sense, you can't convert an audio file (WAV) to a video format (WMV). Perhaps you mean how do you convert a WAV file into a WMA file, which is what the poster above assumes you mean.

Another easy way is just to use Winamp - Open the preferences window, then under output plugins choose "Nullsoft WMA Output plug-in" click configure and choose the location for the output file, set the other parameters as you see fit, now just play the WAV file and it will play to a WMA file instead of coming out of the speakers.

Also i want to know which is a bigger file..... either realmedia file or a windows media player file???????
That depends on how you set the encoder, for a given level of picture quality they are both about the same.

For equal quality, RM and WMA should be roughly the same size. RM is better at lower (low quality bitrates, 16-64 kbps, mono/stereo). WMA is better at high quality(128-320 kbps, stereo/multichannel), and has less clipping than MP3's (in my opinion).

Other than winamp, the free WINDOW MEDIA DEVELOPER TOOLS
    can easily accomplish conversion WAV>WMA

WMA at lower bitrates sound *terrible*. If I wanted to convert something to a smaller size I'd use MP3 before WMA.

  7. yea thats what i meant is wma not wmv thats my fault...... also i dont wanna use mp3 because the reason i am converting is for streaming off the web. Another question is why did i just use real producer to convert a mp3 song to rm but the rm wasnt that smaller than the mp3!!?!?!?! i am tryin to get it down to the rest of the rm files sizes i use to dl.... a whole song might reach one mb or a little over...... NOT 4

MP3s play as they are downloaded, same as a WMA file.

Don't use Real. A lot of people hate the Real player. In fact, I think Real is doomed.

Not if you use DOWNLOAD MUSIC SERVICE
OF all 4 only REAL "GETS IT"

Apple Napster and that OTHER ONE are all selling lousy quality as the OFFICIAL RELEASE FROM THE ARTIST..What GIVES?.. I'd rather have CD quality (at 256bps)
from PEER TO PEER because these online stores only carry 128bps fare!!

REAL INTRODUCES 192bps quality just this week in its debutting service

WHO EXPECTED THE WORLD's MOST VILLAIANOUS SPY-WARE bearing MEDIA COMPANY (Real Networks, Inc) TO DEVELOP ANYTHING GOOD?

The profit margins on selling music downloads is razor thin. In fact, Apple only does it to sell ipods.

    I guess we'll see.

Just about any player will play an MP3. If they have the Real Player, WMP, or Winamp, it will play. I can't say the same of WMA or Real formats.

  13. i didnt know that about mp3s..... but also wma and real player formats are smaller files which will allow me to save more space

  14. I would recommend 64kbps WMA9 or 96kbps MP3 for streaming.

Sure, if you want to force your users to install a codec of a player. I just don't think the decrease in file size is worth it (if it's even that significant).
